The QFREB provides real estate boards and their members with a variety of services: market analyses, government relations, communications and public relations, conciliation and arbitration, and professional practices.
The aim of the Market Analysis Department is to be the authority in Québec when it comes to the analysis of residential real estate sales data. In addition to detailed monthly, quarterly and annual statistics, the Department produces many other documents, including the QFREB Barometer – Residential Market. Chronological data series and special compilations are also publicly available. QFREB economists remain up-to-date on the most recent economic indicators that influence market performance. They subsequently publish newsletters, reports and analyses on a variety of topics affecting Québec’s residential real estate market.
The mission of the Government Relations Department is to defend the interests of QFREB members before government authorities, as well as implement, promote and present a variety of real estate related policies and guidelines.
The Government Relations Working Group is composed of real estate brokers from across the province and works to create and maintain a network of contacts among elected officials throughout Québec. Working Group members regularly meet with industry stakeholders to present the position of the QFREB on regulatory issues, legislation, etc.
In addition, the Government Relations Department works jointly with the Canadian Real Estate Association to strengthen lobbying efforts at the national level.
Communications and Public Relations
The mission of the Communications and Public Relations Department is to promote and strengthen QFREB’s image and reputation among internal and external audiences as well as to ensure the coherence and coordination of all QFREB communication activities. In line with the Federation’s strategic objectives, the Department assists the management team in public affairs, establishes an ongoing dialogue with the media, and ensures the management of various events.
Conciliation and Arbitration
The Conciliation and Arbitration Department offers support to real estate professionals who are members of a real estate board. It helps members to effectively resolve disputes that may occur during a real estate transaction, especially in regard to compensation, thus implementing the self-regulation principle that characterizes the structure of the real estate industry.
The QFREB helps members to work as effectively as possible according to the highest standards of professionalism. The Professional Practices Department facilitates the work of real estate brokers and ensures greater consistency in industry practices, including property listings.
The QFREB is guided by the recommendations of the Professional Practices Committee, which regularly proposes improvements to the rules concerning business practices that apply to all brokers in the province.
