QFREB News > Housing Starts bounce in Québec in January 2019

According to preliminary data from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), there were 1,779 housing starts in Québec centres with 10,000 or more inhabitants in January 2019. This represents a 17 per cent increase compared to January of last year. The Trois-Rivières (+217 per cent) and Montréal (+81 per cent) Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs) registered the largest increases while the Sherbrooke (-87 per cent) and Gatineau (-72 per cent) CMAs registered the largest decreases.
