According to preliminary data from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), there were 1,935 housing starts in Québec centres with 10,000 or more inhabitants in February 2019. This represents a 21 per cent drop compared to February of last year. The Saguenay (+433 per cent), Gatineau (+400 per cent) and Trois-Rivières (+329 per cent) Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs) registered the largest increases while the Montreal CMA (-47 per cent) registered a large decline.
